Pizza Sauce

No reason to cook this; that will happen in the oven as the rest of the pizza is cooked. Use about ⅓ cup for each (14") pizza. This may seem spare, but remember that extra sauce (and extra, especially high-moisture cheese) is what sogs a pizza crust disgustingly.

1 can crushed tomatoes (14 oz)
1 tbsp tomato paste (optional umami addition)
pinch oregano
pinch basil
pinch thyme
pinch pepper flakes
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp olive oil
salt
pepper
